About me
Dr. Kathy Hoernke is a dedicated educator with over 25 years of experience in teaching mathematics and science. She currently teaches Honors Algebra 2 and Statistics at Rock Hill High School and serves as a College Site Supervisor for student teachers across grades K – 12. Dr. Hoernke's extensive teaching career spans from 7th grade math to Pre-Calculus, including Integrated Science and a 9th grade Economics/Government class.
A proud graduate of North Carolina State University, Dr. Hoernke holds a B.S. in Math Education with a minor in Psychology, a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with a Technology Emphasis, and a Doctorate in Education specializing in E-learning. Her career includes teaching in three different states, primarily in Texas, and an 8-year hiatus in the 90s to homeschool her children.
In addition to her teaching roles, Dr. Hoernke has made significant contributions as a department head, math placement coordinator for incoming middle schoolers, and professional development trainer. She is very thankful for her husband and six children, whose support and encouragement throughout her graduate studies provided her with first-hand knowledge of the various types of learners in her classroom. Dr. Hoernke is very passionate about education and continually seeks new ways to reach and support her students.
