Teachers will learn how to use the WIS WIM strategy which allows students to methodically analyze graphs, data, and graphics. Students can then engage in conversation with one another to process information, share ideas, and collaborate on their analysis. We will practice using this strategy, and brainstorm ways for it to work with your students in your classroom.
By engaging students in a civil debate called Philosophical Chairs students can learn to respectfully speak their opinions and listen to others’ ideas. Pairing this activity with a graphic organizer and a CER, students can thoughtfully support their option through evidence based information from articles rather than opinions.
